Confederate Memphis Novelty Works Thos Leech & Co. Cavalry Sword & Original Scabbard

Rare Maker Marked Memphis Novelty Works Thos Leech & Co cavalry sword and scabbard. Both the blade and scabbard are uncleaned and show extended wartime use. The grip retains most of the twisted wire and leather with some lose. The hand guard has wartime bending. The maker mark is strong and uncleaned. The washer is present and the blade is complete with no modern sharpening marks, a nice uncleaned patina and no edge dings. The scabbard is missing the drag and was apparently used to block many sword strikes with many cuts and separations along the bottom. The end of the scabbard has a small bent over edge that corresponds to a slight sword tip curl. I believe it is a wartime damaged scabbard that continued to be used by the Confederate soldier who carried this sword. The brass scabbard throat and strap mounts are present.. You would be able to send this sword off to be spruced up. Email or call if you would like more details. $6300
